Turkmenistan Navy has signed a contract with Turkish company “Gulhan & Dearsan Joint Venture” about the construction of a corvette according to Turkish defence media.
In accordance with the contract, Turkish shipyard Dearsan will build one 92 meters corvette for the Turkmen Naval Forces. The project of the contructing of ship for Turkmen Navy is called “Turkmen” class corvette. It is planned to increase the number in the next stage.
From 2010 to present, the Dearsan Shipyards has provided a total of 25 ships for the Navy and Coast Guard of Turkmenistan (10 units of 57 meters Tuzla Patrol Boats, 2 landing ships, 6 units 33 meters attack boats, 5 Search and Rescue Ships, 1 hydrographic vessel and 1 passenger vessel).
According to the open sources, Dearsan’s corvette would be equipped with main gun, surface-to-surface missile and CIWS.
