IDEX-NAVDEX 2021: Deals worth USD 5.69 billion signed in five days

The International Defence Exhibition Organising Committee (IDEX) and Maritime Defence (NAVDEX) 2021 have announced the end of its 15th edition in Abu Dhabi. It was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and lasted five days from 21-25 February.

The UAE Armed Forces on Thursday (Feb.25) announced signing deals worth USD 5.69 billion during the five-day run of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX) in Abu Dhabi. On the final day of the expo, 20 deals worth USD 246 million were inked.

Staff Brigadier-General Mohammed Al Hassani, official spokesperson of the exhibitions, said 15 local and five international companies secured contracts on Thursday, with Abu Dhabi-headquartered International Golden Group (USD 60.5 million) and Germany-based Atlas Elektronik (USD 46.2 million) grabbing the top deals.

“The total amount of deals with the local companies amounted to USD139 million while the total amount of deals with international companies amounted to USD 107 million,” Al Hassani told reporters during the closing day of the exhibition.,

The exhibition has received remarkable success in attendance, becoming the first global event specializing in the defense sector to open during the revival of COVID-19. It was attended by more than 62,000 visitors and attracted 900 exhibitors from 59 countries.The number of national pavilions increased to 35 and Israel, North Macedonia, Luxembourg, Portugal and Azerbaijan participated for the first time in the history of the exhibition
