DSEI-2019 to be Commenced Under Protests

The world leading event that connects governments, national armed forces, industry thought leaders and the global defence & security supply chain, DSEI-2019 (Defence and Security Equipment International), has been begun at ExCeL Exhibition Center of London today (10th September). The event, that offers with a range of valuable opportunities for networking, a platform for business, access to relevant content & live-action demonstrations will continue until 13rd of September. The event is supported by Royal Navy and First Sea Lord.

Though defence technology market and enthusiasts counted down for the exhibition, it seems like that, London is a bit disturbed with the event. According to the UK press, a protest was held at the point where the exhibition was held. About 200 demonstrators blocked a road near the center where the gun fair was held on Sunday (8 September 2019) and called for the event to end. It is estimated that 2,000 protesters participated in the demonstrations during the week. Police arrested 113 people, highway closures were effective in these arrests were recorded.

It’s also recorded that London Mayor Sadık Khan reacted to the exhibition. Khan said:

“Leave London and never come back. I am strongly against this incident in London. London is a global city that hosts refugees suffering and fleeing conflict as a result of weapons and weapons, such as those exhibited at the DSEI. In order to represent the interests of Londoners, I will do my best to prevent this event from taking place at the Royal Port in the coming years. ”
