Bilateral Sea Drills of Egyptian and Indian Navies

As we reported on 02 July 2019, Indian frigate INS TARKASH made a 3-day port visit to Alexandria to participate in the Western Fleet Overseas Deployment training program and to improve relationships between two countries.

After the visit, sea drills are conducted with the participation of INS TARKASH and Egyptian frigate DAMIETTA. The exercises included security measures during maritime missions, protection of navigation routes as well as management of defense and attack operations. Navy helicopters were used in the training.

The drills come as part of a plan by the Egyptian Armed Forces General Command to enhance and beef up military cooperation with all friendly countries. In 2018, Egypt and Pakistani naval forces also carried out drills in the Mediterranean Sea.
