The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) executed a passing exercise (PASSEX) with Norwegian naval assets in the Norwegian Sea on 15th July, U.S. Navy 6th Fleet announced.
Roosevelt and the Norwegian ship HNoMS Gnist (P979) conducted the exercise off the coast of Tromso, Norway.
U.S. Navy vessels routinely conduct training with allies and partners in order to enhance interoperability and increase capacity in order to strengthen the regional maritime security.
Roosevelt began its first patrol as a Forward Deployed Naval Forces-Europe (FDNF-E) asset on June 23 and executed a PASSEX with the Spanish Navy as the ship’s first exercise as a member of U.S. 6th Fleet. Roosevelt also participated in exercise Dynamic Mongoose 2020, an anti-submarine warfare exercise, with a number of NATO Allies off the coast of Iceland in early July.
Roosevelt, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
