ST Engineering revealed on November 15 that Abu Dhabi Ship Building PJSC (ADSB) had granted a subcontract to its Marine division in Singapore for the supply of design, platform equipment, and technical assistance for the building of four Falaj 3-class Offshore Patrol Vessels. These vessels will be constructed in ADSB for the UAE Navy.
The contract covers the vessel’s basic design, detailed design, and manufacturing design. During the construction of the first of its kind vessel, technical help will be provided.
The Falaj-3 class is a highly versatile and reliable offshore patrol vessel, suitable to carry out a wide range of missions including maritime security and search and rescue operations. Based on our proven Fearless Class Patrol Vessels, this 60m Offshore Patrol Vessel will be designed to meet International Classification Society Naval Rules, as well as 100% redundancy for critical and major systems and high survivability requirements.
“We are honoured to have been selected by ADSB as one of their major partners in this very prestigious Falaj 3 program. We are confident that our past experience in the design and construction of such a class of vessels will position us and ADSB well to meet the challenges,” said Ng Sing Chan, President, Marine at ST Engineering. “We look forward to our partnership with ADSB in fulfilling its commitment to deliver four future-capable ships that will complement its existing fleet and help the UAE Navy accomplish its missions.”
ST Engineering has an extensive track record in naval vessel design, in addition to its more known naval shipbuilding capabilities. In recent years, it has been investing in its Marine capabilities, harnessing digitalization to drive smarter shipbuilding and deeper vessel intelligence.
