Pakistan Navy conducts bilateral exercises with Russian and Sri Lankan warships

Pakistan Navy (PN) conducted joint drills, Arabian Monsoon 2021 and Lion Star-II, with Russia and Sri Lanka’s naval forces, respectively, at the culmination of multinational maritime exercise Aman-21, PN announced with a press release on 21st February.

Pakistani assets Ships Alamgir and Aslat took part in the drill with ships of the Russian Federation Navy, Admiral Grigorovich, and Dmitriy Rogachov in the North Arabian Sea.

Besides, PN Ship Zulfiquar also conducted bilateral Exercise Lion Star-II with Sri Lankan Navy Ship Gajabahu. In these exercises, fixed and rotary-wing aircraft of Pakistan Naval Aviation and PAF Fighters also participated.

The exercises included Anti-Surface, Anti-Air Warfare, Manoeuvring, and Communication serials. Bilateral exercises ARABIAN MONSOON 2021 and LION STAR-II were conducted to further enhance cooperation and interoperability with the Russian Federation and Sri Lanka navies.

These engagements are also the testimony of PN’s resolve to work towards regional peace and maintain close relations with all friendly navies. Exercises proved mutually rewarding to hone professional skills and learn from each other’s experiences, Pakistan Navy claims.

PN recently hosted the multinational AMAN-2021 exercise, which brought rival countries together, including Russia, China, and the U.S.
