Hellenic Navy to procure a large number of RAM Block 2 missiles

According to the Greek media, Hellenic Navy is moving rapidly towards the purchase of a large number of RAM Block 2 missiles for the latest two Roussen-class (Super Vita) FAC.

As the photos from commissioning ceremony published, 6th Super Vita class boat HS Karathanasis (P-78) lack Exocet MM-40 Block 3 missiles which is expected to be solved soon. However, there was no provision to procure load the RAM launchers. There were criticisms on Greek defence media that newest Super Vita Boats’ protection against missiles and aircraft only in theory.

According to ptisidiastima.com, Greek Ministry of Defence has solved this problem recently by ordering large amount of missiles which will enter production line soon and will be delivered in a few months. These missiles were planned for another country, but Greece will be able to recieve these missiles without an extra cost, ptisidiastima.com claimed.

RAM point defence missile system is currently used by Egypt, Germany, Greece, Japan, Mexico, Qatar, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, U.A.E. and the U.S.
